In Search of Peace
In Search of Peace. H22 x L27 x D15cm. Porcelain, glazes.
£1250
Matte, ruffled sheets of porcelain are rolled and cut, built up gradually and encouraged to ripple in the firing. Small movements becoming exaggerated, amplified. In contrast, shiny, brightly coloured spikey forms nestle in the the softness of the porcelain stack.
In Search of Peace was inspired by the process of writing to expel our fears and anxieties. Private journal writing or written prayers left for a higher spiritual power help us make sense of our emotions and provide a place for us to leave them. As complex beings, these emotions are never gone for good so the stack represents the on going story of a cathartic ritual, revisited often. The spikey coloured forms have found a resting place in the stack symbolising the fears or anxieties left within the pages.
